Note from Mat and Sarah

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are not sure we will ever be able to adequately express how grateful and thankful we are for all the love, support, prayers, and God’s grace we have received in our time of need.
An update on Mackenzie’s first day with her new liver. She is doing extremely well for someone that had major surgery yesterday. The doctors are keeping her heavily sedated but there have been moments where she has woken up. This is good because it shows that the new liver is taking and that her body is beginning to work the way that it is supposed to. Because of her age she will remain sedated as long as she has a breathing tube and is hooked to so many IVs. This is so she does not try to pull anything out. The doctors expect to keep the breathing tube in until she has gotten through a second surgery. The second surgery will take place within the next few days to complete the closure of her abdomen.
Her many different liver and other medical numbers have dramatically improved since the surgery and are looking very good for someone who has had a transplant. We are very blessed to be at an amazing hospital that has a phenomenal pediatric center. We are encouraged by the doctor’s response to her progress. The doctors have encouraged us to stand with them when they do rounds and to ask any questions that we have. We have taken them up on this and are asking many questions and trying to learn as much as we can about the many medicines that she is on. This is way better than watching Grey’s Anatomy.
Words can’t do it justice to express how thankful we are for all of you and your prayers.
Prayer Requests:
Mackenzie’s continued recovery. She started Prograff today, which is one of the drugs that she will be on for the rest of her life.
The donor family: for their healing in a time of grief and praise for their generosity.
